Purpose:
The Aurora City Schools Wrestling Program is designed to encourage and teach the sport of wrestling to the youth of Aurora and surrounding communities. Primary goals include the development and appreciation of work ethic, dedication, and level of success based on individual efforts. Sportsmanship, positive character growth and strong ethical methods are used to bring a positive attitude and success to the wrestling program and the individuals that make up this program. The program is open to K through 12th grade students.
Structure:
The hired and approved Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Aurora High School shall be the chief administrator of this program, unless that coach re-assigns and/or delegates that responsibility. The head coach is encouraged and expected to take a leadership role in all levels within the program.
The Head Coach is to utilize the experience and knowledge of his assistants at the high school, middle school, and those assisting with the youth programs. It is felt, in particular, questions regarding activities and technique at various levels must seek input of those coaches workoing at that level. Although all coaches may provide input, the ultimate responsibility rests with the head coach.

Some of our young men, at both the High School and Middle School levels participate in the Suburban Freestyle Wrestling League. The Junior Aurora Wrestlers (JAWS) are members of the Northeast Ohio Youth Wrestling League. In all three levels, additional competition is scheduled.
Program Levels:
There are three distinct levels that comprise the Aurora Wrestling Program: Youth Level – is for wrestlers in grades K – 6. Middle School level is for wrestlers in grades 7 or 8. High School level is for wrestlers in Grades 9 – 12.
